Content rules and reporting
Version 1, in force since 8 November 2026. These rules form part of the terms of sale (Article 12).
A Advent Doors calendar is a private gift, seen by one person or a small circle. These rules protect the person who receives it, the people who appear in it, and the service.
1. What you can put in a calendar
Your texts, your photos, voice recordings, links to a song or a video, quizzes, riddles, vouchers… anything that brings joy, as long as you follow the rules below. Affectionate or cheeky texts between adults are allowed.
2. What you must respect
2.1 People's rights
- Consent. Only include a photo, video or recording in which a person can be recognised with their consent.
- Children. For a minor, you need the consent of their parents (or of those with parental authority). No image of a naked child, however innocent (bath, beach…).
- Privacy. Do not publish private information about other people: address, phone number, identity documents, bank details, health…
- Recipient. Do not give a calendar to a person who has asked you not to contact them any more.
When you upload your first photo, the editor asks you to confirm that you have these consents.
2.2 Copyright
- Use your own photos and texts, or content you have the right to use.
- No commercially released music in the recordings or files you upload (no song playing in the background of a video, for example). To share a song, use the "song" door: it shows the title and opens a link to YouTube, Spotify, Deezer or Apple Music.
- No full copy of protected works (films, books, complete song lyrics, comics) without permission.
2.3 What is forbidden
- any illegal content;
- any child sexual abuse material or content that sexualises a child, in any form;
- images and videos of nudity or of a sexual nature, even between adults;
- hatred, discrimination, harassment, threats, incitement to violence or suicide;
- glorification of terrorism or of crimes;
- violent or shocking images;
- links to malicious websites, phishing, scams, requests to the recipient for money or data;
- advertising and commercial promotion;
- impersonating another person.
3. How we moderate
- No prior checks. We do not read calendars and we do not analyse them automatically. Only technical checks are automatic: file format and size, "song" links limited to a list of listening websites, removal of photo metadata.
- We act on reports, or when we become aware of content that is illegal or breaches these rules.
- Every decision is taken by a person, after examining the reported content, in a diligent, objective and proportionate manner, taking into account everyone's rights, including freedom of expression.
- Possible measures, depending on the seriousness:
- no measure, if the content complies with the law and these rules;
- removal of the content concerned (a photo, a door);
- suspension of the calendar: its link stops working;
- deletion of the calendars concerned and refusal of new orders, for a serious or repeated breach;
- informing the authorities (section 4.5).
4. Reporting content
4.1 Who can report
Anyone: the person who receives the calendar, a person who appears in it, or anyone who becomes aware of it.
4.2 How
- the "Report content" link at the bottom of every calendar;
- the form at adventdoors.com/en/report;
- or an email to contact@adventdoors.com.
4.3 What the report must contain
So that we can act, please give:
- where the content is: the link to the calendar and the number of the door;
- why it is illegal or breaches these rules, in sufficient detail;
- your name and email address, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material or another offence of sexual abuse or sexual exploitation of children: you can then remain anonymous;
- a statement confirming your good-faith belief that the information and allegations in the report are accurate and complete.
If you are the recipient and only want to stop the emails, use the "Stop these emails" link at the bottom of each of them: that is not a report.
4.4 What happens next
- If you gave your address, you receive an acknowledgement of receipt without delay.
- We examine the report, usually within 48 hours, and give priority to content that threatens a person's safety or a child.
- We inform you of our decision and of the possible remedies.
- If we remove content or suspend a calendar, we inform the buyer with a statement of reasons: the measure taken, the facts, the rule or law concerned, and the remedies. We do not disclose your identity to them, unless the law requires it.
We may not act on manifestly unfounded and repeated reports.
4.5 Serious content and the authorities
If content gives rise to a suspicion of a criminal offence involving a threat to the life or safety of one or more persons, we immediately inform the competent law enforcement or judicial authorities (Article 18 of the EU Digital Services Act). More generally, we promptly inform the authorities of serious illegal activities reported to us (Article 6 of the French law on confidence in the digital economy). Child sexual abuse material is removed, preserved as evidence for the authorities and reported to the official French platform PHAROS (internet-signalement.gouv.fr) or to the police.
In case of immediate danger, call 112. You can also report illegal content yourself to the authorities of your country.
5. Contesting a decision
Whether you reported content or your content was removed, you can contest our decision within six months, free of charge, by writing to contact@adventdoors.com with your arguments. The decision is reviewed by a person, and we reply with a reasoned decision.
You can also go to the competent court at any time. Finally, if you believe we do not comply with the EU Digital Services Act, you can lodge a complaint with Arcom, the Digital Services Coordinator in France (www.arcom.fr), or with the coordinator of your country (Article 53 of the Act).
6. Point of contact
Single point of contact for users and authorities (Articles 11 and 12 of the EU Digital Services Act): contact@adventdoors.com, in French, English or German.
7. Texts to display in the service
These texts repeat the rules above where they apply.
